The Platinum Collective is a community of energetic and curious people (aged 55+) who connect over art, shared experiences, and conversations. They engage in a series of multi-week workshops that culminate in an exhibition at the Speed.

Workshop Description: 

In this workshop series, participants will explore the world of filmmaking by creating their own short educational videos – PSA’s – with the Speed Art Museum Community Connections Artist in Residency, Demi Gardner. This class will focus on developing an understanding of filmmaking, identifying social issues, and crafting a call-to-action PSA on their social topics. The eight sessions will explore self-identity, community relationships, and storytelling through filmmaking.  

 

Upon Completion of This Course, Participants Will Be Able to

Create work that centers social identities and wellness practices as a source for storytelling content and art making.

Identify the basic skills of film department heads.

Develop basic filmmaking skills.

Enhance storytelling skills.

 

Required Course Materials: 

Participants will be provided art materials for the workshop series. There will be opportunities to request additional art materials, if needed.
