Project: Screenprinting inspired by the Art Park

Description: Celebrate the opening of the Speed Art Museum’s new Art Park with a hands-on Screenprinting workshop! Participants will create prints inspired by the park’s sculptures and natural elements. We’ll provide paper and fabric for experimenting, and participants are also invited to bring 1–2 personal items to print on. Please note that personal items must be 100% cotton and completely flat (no buttons, zippers, or bulky seams). We invite you to explore the park before or after the workshop. This workshop is facilitated by local artist Mark Brown. All materials are provided, and no experience is required.

Artist Bio:

Mark Brown was born in California, raised in Augusta, GA, and now lives and works in Louisville, KY. He and his wife co-own Relic Tattoos, and he also serves as Creative Director of No More Red Dots (NMRD), a nonprofit dedicated to ending gun violence and promoting peace.

A graduate of Memphis College of Art (majoring in painting and minoring in Art History, 2008), Mark has worked as a professional tattoo artist and screen printer for over twenty years. His practice also includes painting, sculpture, and comic illustration. Passionate about both making and teaching, Mark believes the best way to know him is through direct connection: “anything else about me you will want to learn in person as I may learn of you.”
